Atelier Recherche Design & Cognition

The Atelier Recherche Design & Cognition, or Workshop (studio) in research in design and cognition is a course at Télécom Paris.

It aims to introduce Social Science Research methods to (interaction) design students from the Master in Design (Ecole Normale Superieure, Télécom Paris), Master in Interaction Graphics & Design (Télécom Paris).

It is led by Stephane Safin, Isabelle Garron, myself, and Marie-Alix Molinié.

Over a period of 2-4 weeks (varies by year) approximately 20 students engage with a broader social theme (e.g. inclusion in 2024), a site (Plateau de Saclay in recent years). They have to define a research question, hypothesis and data collection methodology, and conduct a (rapid) social science study.
