Open Positions

I am currently looking for a PhD student for the year 2023 / 2024. Funding opportunities are available.

I am open to supervising student projects and Masters thesis, with students coming from Télécom Paris, Institut Polytechnique de PParis schools (incl. Ecole de Ponts), ENS; but I am also to co-supervising research from other Universities. Reach out to discuss more.

Don’t hesitate to get in contact me: panos.mavros at telecom-paris.fr

PhD Topics

PhD research topics are more broad and are expected to be co-developed with the candidate, taking into account funding opportunities.

  • Wayfinding and navigation (behavioural aspects, cartography, XR interefaces)
  • Joint cognition & decision making, e.g. collaborative design or collaborative wayfinding
  • XR interfaces and architectural design
  • Simulation of human behaviour and/or experience
  • Environmental psychology/neuroscience, Urban aesthetics/neuroaesthetics, embodiment, urban design
  • Active mobility, emotions, decision making

MSc Research topics

Below are some project ideas for semester or thesis (memoire) projects. I have grouped according to technical difficulty and prior expertise (e.g. design related topics might be more relevant for students of architecture / urbanism). However, if you are interested in a specific topic from another discipline, reach out to discuss with me anyway.

Informatics & Cognitive Science students

These topics are for students from Computer Science and/or Cognitive Science background. Highlighted are the key tools/methods to be used/learned.

MSc Thesis (Memoire)

These projects demanding a substantial effort and are more suitable for students interested to work for 3-6 months in our lab.
