Presentation
You are cordially invited to attend EMPG 2011. All communications dealing with any subject related to
mathematical psychology are welcome. For instance, relevant topics include:
- cognition, cognitive sciences, connectionism
- decision-making, judgment
- information processing
- knowledge space
- learning, memory, thinking
- mathematical models in psychology
- measurement, scaling
- models for sensation and perception
- neural modelling, neural network
- perception and psychophysics
- probabilistic models in psychology
- psychological process models
- psychometrics
- statistical methods
- ...
A special emphasis will be placed on aspects of mathematical psychology dealing with discrete mathematics,
for instance on topics using tools as:
- algorithmic complexity
- automata
- combinatorial structures
- computational methods
- convex geometries
- discrete game theory
- functional equations
- graphs (directed or undirected)
- ordered or partially ordered relations
- ordinal data analysis
- preference modelling
- statistics
- ...
Our sponsors
The meeting benefits from the help of our sponsors:
Thanks to our sponsors, coffee-breaks will be offered twice a day, as well as
a farewell cocktail, after the last session, on Wednesday 31 August.
- The Society for Mathematical Psychology
offers "student travel awards" specifically provided in aid of the PhD
students. These awards allow us to invite the PhD students who attend the
meeting to the conference dinner.
Accomodation, meals (except the conference dinner for the PhD students), transportation,
and so on are chargeable to the participants.
Fees
The meeting is free but the registration is compulsory.
The deadline for registration is August 19, 2011
(anyway, please register as soon as possible).
Submission of a communication
Submissions are over now.
Communications will be 30 minutes long (including questions).
Proceedings
A special issue of the
Electronic Notes in Discrete Mathematics (ENDM) will be devoted to the meeting (at least to the contributions
related to discrete mathematics).
There will be also a special issue of
Mathematics and Social Sciences (MSS).
To be considered for these special issues, the papers must have at least one author who attended the meeting.
- Special issue of
ENDM
- Papers submitted to the ENDM special issue must conform to the generic ENDM style package
(see the "Instructions for Preparing Manuscripts" of the section
"full Aims and Scope" of ENDM). In particular, they must be written in Latex.
- The length of the paper must not exceed 8 pages.
- Please note "that the publication of an abstract or extended abstract in this journal will NOT
restrict the author(s) from publishing a full-length article on the same topic and with the
same title in another journal (possibly with another publisher) provided that the original publication
is sufficiently enhanced (i.e. approximately doubled in size). However, a simple copyright form must
be signed for the (extended) abstract in order for it to be posted on ScienceDirect"
(extract from the "Copyright Notice" of the section
"full Aims and Scope" of ENDM).
- For the submission, please send at least a pdf file or a ps file (source files will be required later).
- Submitted papers must be sent to Olivier Hudry (hudry@enst.fr) before October 31, 2011.
Thus we hope that the authors can benefit from questions or comments arising during
the meeting. We hope to be able to publish the accepted papers during the first quarter of 2012.
- Special issue of
MSS
Important dates
-
June 10, 2011 (instead of May 15): deadline for the reception of abstracts (sent to Olivier Hudry (hudry@enst.fr)).
Anyway, please send your abstract as soon as possible.
-
June 15, 2011: notification of acceptance of the communication.
-
August 19, 2011: deadline for registration (free but compulsory). Anyway, please register as soon as possible.
-
August 29-31, 2011: 2011 EMPG meeting.
-
October 31, 2011: deadline for submitting a contribution to the special issue of
Electronic Notes in Discrete Mathematics (see the section Proceedings).
-

Telecom ParisTech takes place between the area named
"Butte aux Cailles" (where
one can find many cafés and restaurants) and the "parc Montsouris", in the 13th district (South of Paris).
Telecom ParisTech can be reached
by the line number 6 of the subway (Corvisart
or Glacière stations), or by the following lines of buses: 62 (Barrault stop),
21 (Daviel stop) or 67 (Bobillot stop).
In the neighbourhood, there are also:
- a stop of the Orlybus (bus between Orly airport and Paris),
- the stations Denfert-Rochereau and Cité universitaire of the express subway "RER", line B;
this line serves also Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport and the North train station "Gare du Nord".
One can find here
a map and details to reach Telecom ParisTech (site "rue Barrault").
Accommodation
A list of hotels in the vicinity of Telecom ParisTech is available here, among other possibilities.
Prices are given for information only and must be checked when you book a room.
We do not ensure hotel reservations; you have to contact the chosen hotel directly.
Conference dinner, lunches
A conference dinner is organized on the evening of Monday 29 August, in the Lebanese restaurant called
Assanabel,
located near Telecom ParisTech (about 10 minutes by foot; there is also a bus between the restaurant and Telecom ParisTech).
This dinner will be chargeable to the participants. The cost is 40 euros per person.
Details will be given later to the registered participants.
Thanks to our sponsors, we will offer the coffee-breaks twice a day, and a farewell cocktail after the last session, on Wednesday 31 August, to the registered participants.
There are several restaurants in the vicinity of Telecom ParisTech for lunches or dinners.
It will be possible to have the lunches at the administrative restaurant of Telecom ParisTech.
The cost of a lunch at the administrative restaurant of Telecom ParisTech is about 15 euros (about the same price as a menu
in some restaurants near Telecom ParisTech, but it is faster).
If you are interested in this possibility, please warn Olivier Hudry when you arrive in Telecom ParisTech
on Monday 29 August or before (by email). Note that there is no receipt from the administrative restaurant of Telecom ParisTech.
Please note that all the meals will
be chargeable to the participants.
