Né à Oujda (Maroc) le 18 janvier1942, Gérard Maral est ingénieur de l' Ecole Centrale des Arts et Manufactures (1965) et a obtenu le Doctorat d'Etat en 1970. Gérard Maral est nommé Professeur à l' Université Paul Sabatier de Toulouse en 1970 En 1984, il devient Professeur à l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (ENST) et crée le site de Toulouse de l'ENST sous la forme d'une entité de formation et de recherche dans le domaine des systèmes de télécommunications par satellites. La formation dispensée sur le site s'adresse aux élèves-ingénieurs du Groupe des Ecoles des Télécommunications(GET). La recherche est fondée sur un partenariat avec les entreprises et les agences spatiales. En 2003, l’ENST ouvre sur le site de Toulouse sous la responsabilité pédagogique du Professeur Maral le ‘Master of Science in Aerospace Communications Systems’. L'expérience du Professeur Gérard Maral en matière d'enseignement et de recherche dans le domaine des télécommunications par satellites est reconnue au plan international. Il est Professeur Associé à l'Université de Surrey . Expert auprès des entreprises du secteur spatial et de l'Agence Spatiale Européenne, et comme expert pour l'Union Internationale des Télécommunications (UIT). Auteur de plusieurs brevets, et d'articles dans le domaine de la conception aidée par ordinateur, les communications numériques, les systèmes de communications par satellite. Il a rédigé plusieurs ouvrages sur les télécommunications par satellite : ‘Télécommunications par satellite’ (Masson, 1982), ‘Satellite Communications Systems’ (Wiley, 1ère édition 1986, 2ème édition 1994, 3ème édition 1998, 4ème édition 2002), VSAT Networks (Wiley, 1ére édition 1995, 2ème édition 2004) et co-éditeur de l’ouvrage ‘Service efficient network interconnection via satellite’ (Wiley 2002) par Y. Fun Hu, G. Maral et E. Ferro. Cours de formation continue au plan international dans le cadre de CEI-Europe:

Born
January 18, 1942, Oujda (Morocco), Gérard Maral graduated from Ecole
Centrale des Arts et Manufactures (1965) and received the Doctorat d'Etat
in 1970. He then was appointed in
1970 as a Professor of the University Paul Sabatier of Toulouse (France). Professor Gérard Maral
joined the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (ENST) in 1984 as a full time Professor
and subsequently developed the site at Toulouse of ENST and its related Satellite
Communications Systems Educational and Research Programme. This Programme is
open to students of the Groupe des Ecoles des Télécommunications (GET).
Research is performed in partnership with industries and space
agencies. In 2003, Professor Maral
sets up the ‘Master of
Science in Aerospace Communications Systems’ for ENST on its Toulouse
site. Acted on several
occasions as a consultant to space industry and to the European Space Agency,
and as an expert for the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Holds several patents in
the field of satellite communications, and has authored articles in the areas
of computer-aided design, digital communications, and advanced satellite
communications systems. He also is the author of textbooks on satellite
communications : ‘Télécommunications par satellite’ (Masson, 1982), ‘Satellite
Communications Systems’ (Wiley, 1st edition 1986, 2nd edition 1994, 3rd
edition 1998, fourth
edition 2002), ‘VSAT Networks’ (Wiley, 1st edition 1995, 2nd
edition 2004) and co-editor of
‘Service
Efficient Network Interconnection via Satellite’ (Wiley 2002) by Y. Fun
Hu, G. Maral et E. Ferro. Lecturer for continuing
education under the auspices of CEI-Europe :
