Slim Essid is faculty in the Department of Image and Signal Processing-TSI of TELECOM ParisTech (which was also known as ENST, Télécom Paris, etc.) , one of the schools of the Institut TELECOM and ParisTech, and a member of the CNRS LTCI lab.
He received the state engineering degree
from the École Nationale d’Ingénieurs de Tunis,
Tunisia, in 2001, the M.Sc. (D.E.A.) degree in digital
communication systems from the École Nationale
Supérieure des Télécommunications, Paris,
France, in 2002, and the Ph.D. degree from the
Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, France, in
2005, after completing a thesis on automatic audio
classification under the supervision of Gaël Richard & Bertrand David.
Research interests
- Signal processing and machine learning, especially:
- - Audio and audiovisual feature extraction
- - Automatic feature selection
- - Kernel methods
- - Graphical models
- With applications to:
- - Multimedia content analysis
- - Novelty detection and audio/video temporal segmentation
- - Joint audiovisual processing
- - Music Information Retrieval (MIR)
- - General audio classification (including environmental sound classification)
